“Jan. You killed this challenge, your outfit was flawless, and you still managed to find the time to solve world hunger AND the JonBenet Ramsey case. And that’s why we choose Gigi as the winner🎉🎉🎉!”
Apart
from my Deep Dark Fears comic, I spend a lot of my time teaching
animation at the California Institute of the Arts. All year I’d been
working with a great student named Marvin Bynoe. Whenever anyone would
ask me how things were at CalArts, I’d usually wind up telling them all
about Marvin’s latest project. He was talented and hard-working, but
always made time to reach out to his fellow students. Often, he just
listened. Class was always better with Marvin. Sadly, Marvin suddenly
passed away a few weeks ago, and we miss him.
So, for the next two weeks I’ll be drawing portraits. Donate $50 to Marvin’s GoFundMe - https://www.gofundme.com/f/marvinbynoefund
- and I’ll draw your portrait. Just forward your donation receipt to
deepdarkfearsportrait@gmail.com along with a selfie and I’ll draw a
watercolor portrait, scan it in, and email it back to you.
If you
donate $75, I’ll make your portrait and also send the original
watercolor to you - worldwide shipping. Just include your mailing
address when you forward the receipt.
Take Note: the portraits
are the size of my regular comic panels, and I draw pretty small, so
they’re only 1.5 inches square. I like drawing small.
Marvin’s
sudden passing has made me feel like the world can be a cold and cruel
place at times, and the kindness and happiness I find are often things
that we have to create for those around us. Marvin was great at making
the world around him a kinder place. I’d like to help return some of
that kindness. So, if you’re able, chip in to his GoFundMe, I’ll draw
something for you as a way to show my thanks.
